Yves has pinpointed the strengths of this photo. How did you get your entire scene sharp? You have maximized depth of field with a lens that has a smallest aperture of F6.3. How did you do that! The whisp of cloud helps give the impression of motion.
I was using a zoom lens with a variable aperture so at 24mm the it is f4 and at 200mm it is f6.3 while the min aperture at 24mm is F22 and at 200mm is f36. In the meta date you can see that it is shot at 24mm at f8. F8 is my to to aperture for this lens. Hope this helps

the aperture for this image was F8 and the focus point was the lead locomotive approximate 1/3 into the scene so all should be in focus from foreground to infinity. So glad to hear you like this image, patience was a virtue here as I waited hours for it to finally come past.
